Student Success Statement 72

Student Success Statement
"Honesty is the cornerstone of character. The honest man or woman seeks not merely to avoid criminal or illegal acts, but to be scrupulously fair, upright, and fearless in both action and expression. Honesty pays dividends both in dollars and in peace of mind."
-B.C Forbes

What I think this quote means is that honesty is a very important characteristic trait to have. It can make you a good or bad person. In the end being honest pays off.

Student Success Statement
“Gold medals don’t make champions… hard work does.”
-Anon

What I think this quote means is that even if you have a lot of medals and trophies that not makes you a champion. What makes you a champion is your dedication to what you do and being a good sport at it.

Student Success Statement 55

Student Success Statement
“The first law of success…. Is concentration; to bend all the energies to one point, and go directly to that point, looking neither to the right nor the left.”
-William Matthews

What I think this quote means is that we should concentrate in doing what’s good. An example is school. If you concentrate on being popular or on your friends more than learning you on concentrating on doing what is not right. You have to concentrate on your studies so that you have a successful future.

Take Control of Homework So It Doesn't Control You Part 1

Take Control of Homework
So It Doesn't Control You
Part 1
http://www.collegeboard.com/student/plan/boost-your-skills/121.html

Although very few students love homework, it does serve a purpose. Homework helps you:
·       Reinforce what you've learned during the day.
·       Build study habits that are essential in college.
·       Prepare for your classes.
·       Get a sense of progress.

Here are some tips to help you deal with homework more efficiently and effectively.

Set the Mood
Create a good study area with everything you need (for example, a calculator). If you don’t have a quiet place at home, try your school or local library.

Know Where to Begin
Make a list of everything you need to do, and note all deadlines. Do the more difficult assignments first, so you don’t have to face them at the end.

Study at the Same Time Every Day
Even if you don’t have homework every night, use the time to review notes. If sitting down to work is part of your normal routine, you’ll approach it with less dread. Also, you’ll become a pro at using time productively.

Student Success Statement
“What you are will show in what you do.”
-Thomas A. Edison

What I think this quote means is that if you are a good student it will show that if you have a good future. If you are a bad student it will show because you will most likely have a bad future.

Student Success Statement 31

Student Success Statement
“Goodness is the only investment that never fails.”
-Henry David Thoreau

What I think this quote means is that choosing the right is the only thing that pays up at the end. When you do something good there is always a reward. It doesn't mean we should do good stuff and wait for a reward. We do good stuff becuase that makes us happy.

Student Success Statement 30

Student Success Statement
“It’s our duty to concentrate all our influence to make popular that which is sound and good, and (to make) unpopular that which is unsound (and not good).”
-Joseph Smith

What I think this quote means is that its our job to do what's right even though others don't. Others will see you do the right thing and hopefully do the same. NEVER do the wrong thing. Others will see that you are choosing the right and hopefully choose the right too.

Student Success Statement 29

Student Success Statement
“What’s right isn’t always popular. What’s popular isn’t always right.”
-Howard Cosell

What I think this quote means is that even though alot of people are doing something bad, it doesn't mean you should do that. You should always listen to your consious. It also means that if doing the right thing isn't what everyone else is doing, you should either way do the right thing. An example of this is that now a days a lot of people do drugs. Just becuase you see a lot of people doing drugs doesn't mean you should do drugs. Another example is that if you do great in school and most of your classmates don't and just mess around in class, you continue doing good in school.

Student Success Statement 26

Student Success Statement
“My strength is as the strength of ten because my heart is pure.”
-Alfred, Lord Tennyson

What i think this quote means is that if you are a good person that's all that really matters. Your physical appearance doesn't matter. You may be the most prettiest person to everyone's eyes but if you are rotten in the inside people won't like you.

You Can Succeed Every Day Part 1

You Can Succeed Every Day
Part 1
My overall study method: I break up studying for several days and over the course of the evening and day. Cramming never works for me so I try not to do it. I will have longer sessions on the night before big tests, but I never stay up much later than normal before tests. I know that if take the test tired the next day I will not do as well if I was rested.
How I’ve overcome an initial bad grade: I usually look over the test or paper to see what I did that the teacher did not want. Basically, I do not stress out about grades that much because for me they are not worth getting really upset about. I do well because I know that I know the material. However, if I do get a bad grade, or one lower than I expected, I make sure that the next time a test is coming I study even more so that I won’t be surprised by the questions.

Student Success Statement 22

Student Success Statement
“You’ll never regret doing what’s right.”
Anon

What I think this quote means is that when you do what is right you get a feeling of satisfaction. Now in the other hand, if you do what is wrong you start to get a feeling of guilty.
